Two taken to hospital after lightning strike

7/9/2012

A couple people in Oromocto felt the power of nature during Saturday's thunderstorm. Mounties say two women were taken to hospital after lightning hit a tree near where they were walking in Hazen Park. Police say the women -- one from Geary and the other from Halifax -- were thrown to the ground by the force of the lightning; both were taken to the Oromocto hospital, and one was later transferred to Fredericton although their injuries were deemed not life-threatening. The same storm system caused flash flooding in Fredericton's downtown.
