Source for local e coli outbreak remains unknown

Public health officials say they'll likely never know the source of a recent e-coli outbreak that affected four people in the Fredericton area. Dr. Denis Allard is the deputy chief medical health officer. He says investigators have been unable to identify any common sources among the four patients. But the mother of one of the patients thinks the investigation could have been more thorough, noting they only spoke with her daughter twice. And Victoria Boer says neither she nor her husband was allowed to be present...

Boer is also upset that she had to attend a news conference Tuesday to get an update on the investigation. Allard says the health department leaves is up to patients' family doctors to keep them informed, noting it would be difficult to inform every indidvidual affected by an outbreak. But Boer doesn't buy it...

Boer's daughter and one of her friends were the most seriously ill. They've recently been released from hospital, but have to undergo blood tests twice a week.
