Dierks is starting to like his latest hit...

Maybe Toby Keith has started a trend with his "Red Solo Cup" hit, which Toby first called “very, very stupid.”

Turns out  Dierks Bentley wasn't so thrilled initially with his “5-1-5-0” hit either.

Dierks said the song got started when he used the expression “51-50”—police code for psychiatric emergency—in front of his friend and co-writer Jim Beavers.

“And the next day I saw him at the gym and he was singing ‘5-1-5-0, somebody call the po-po,’” Dierks told reporters recently.

“So he came up with that line, and I thought it was the stupidest thing I’d heard in my life, but every time I’d see him, he’d sing that. He’d be like ‘Man, my kids keep—they can't get that out of their heads, it stuck. We got to write it.’”

Dierks didn't exactly jump on it—until they got stuck in a writing session later.

“I was like, ‘Alright, let’s pull out 5-1-5-0,’ and we wrote it, and it just kind of caught on. It’s doing pretty good so far,” Dierks said. “It’s kind of blowing up.”

You can find Dierks latest hit on his album "Home".
