Kids and Kops camp wraps up
Some Fredericton Police officers got to go to summer camp this week. They acted as mentors for a dozen kids aged 8 to 12 as part of the fourth annual Kids and Kops junior police academy summer camp. Constable Duncan Lombard says its a toss up who had more fun.
Lombard says the kids were taken to the scene of a mock break and enter, they collected evidence and gathered other clues through the week -- they even got to meet the police dog and see him in action. On Thursday they caught "the bad guy". The acting police chief will preside over a graduation ceremony where the kids will receive a certificate and souvenir police badge. The participants are children who might not otherwise have the means to attend summer camp. Lombard says the camp is a great way for the officers to act as mentors and build a positive relationship with the kids.
