Design Works Camps

Join Us this Summer at Design Works Camps for Kids & Teens! Discover the fun and creativity of UNB’s Design Works Camps for kids and teens. With over 50 camps to choose from, there’s everything from themed art camps (taught in either English or French), Steal the Stage Theatre, DIY Handy Kid and more.  Budding photographers can select from Stop Motion Animation and Outdoor photography camps, along with introductory classes for all ages. 

For mini chefs in the family, there are new menus at the popular Jr Iron Chef camps, with weekly cooking themes throughout the summer.

Leisure Learning Courses @ UNB

Enjoy Spring with creative, educational and fun Leisure Learning courses offered by UNB’s College of Extended Learning. Starting April 25th, choose from courses in everything from Watercolour painting and Wine Appreciation to Pottery and Pet Grooming. Develop your photography skills with introductory and advanced courses, along with specialty classes in Lightroom and Picassa.   

On the home front, spruce-up for summer with the beginners sewing course “One Stitch at a Time”. Tackle home repairs armed with a DIY Handy Person course or the new “Beginners Wood Working” class.

Alzheimer Society Upcoming Events

 Walk for Alzheimer’s:

Yard Sale Fundraiser:

On Sunday May 3rd, join Team Depot at the New Maryland Recreation Centre from 11AM-2PM for their annual Yard Sale fundraiser in support of the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.  This event is being organized with the help of “Team Depot” of the Fredericton Home Depot as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society’s “Walk for Alzheimer’s”.  Drop off for donated items will be on Saturday May 2nd from 10AM-4PM.

The first Asian immigrants in New Brunswick were ‘Syrians’ arriving in the 1880s from present-day Lebanon. From humble beginnings as peddlers traveling the back roads of rural NB, Lebanese Canadians quickly established themselves as fixtures of local enterprise and in all aspects of civic life.

Learn what drew the Lebanese to "Amerka" in the late 19th Century, how the Ibrahims became the O'Briens, and how New Brunswick's modern Lebanese population relates to its identity as Canadians of Lebanese origin.

Spring Classic Model Contest and Show

The Capital Area Modelers Society will be holding their 27th annual Spring Classic model contest and show at the Kinsmen Center, 141 School St., on Saturday, May 30th.  The doors open at 9:00 a.m., with entry registrations from 9:00 to noon, viewing all day, with awards to be presented at 4:00 pm.

The show is the largest and longest running event east of Montreal and features some of the finest models from Eastern Canada, Quebec and Maine. MGAP Walk for Hounds

The Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program (MGAP) is holding their First Annual Walk for Hounds fundraiser, Saturday, May 30th at 10am at Killarney Lake Park Trail. The Future of Online Accessibility - Free Information Session

The Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI) and UNB Libraries in collaboration with the Learning Disabilities Association of NB and the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour (PETL) are offering a free information session on disabilities and on Web accessibility on June 2 from 9am-10:30 am at the Wu Conference Centre (UNB) as part of Disability Awareness Week (May 31-June 6th).

This information session will provide information on some of the barriers that exist in current web designs and why web accessibility for all is critical in our ever-increasing digital world.

Neil Squire Society 2015 Walk & Roll Challenge

Neil Squire Society 2015 Walk & Roll Challenge. This year will mark the 28th year for Disability Awareness Week in New Brunswick & is scheduled to take place from May 31 – June 6. Community organizations such as schools, non-profits and companies from all over New Brunswick will be participating in promoting awareness by organizing their own Walk & Roll event in their community, these events will be schedule for June 5, 2015.  Join thousands of New Brunswickers at the Walk & Roll Challenge on June 5, 2015 for 15 minutes to show support for persons with disabilities.

Kids Helping Kids BBQ Fundraiser

Walk to Fight Arthritis

The Royal Canadian Legion, Gladstone Branch # 55, in Fredericton Junction is hosting a fundraiser for a new mini bus for the residents of White Rapids Manor in Fredericton Junction.

The Gibson-Neill Memorial Elementary School Home & School Association is inviting you to participate in Fredericton’s Got Talent.  The show will take place on Saturday, June 13th at 6pm at Capital Community Church, 71 Downing Street.  Please return your registration to the school or by email gibsonneillhomeandschool@gmail.com by May 15th. New Brunswick Camp Goodtime

The New Brunswick Camp Goodtime and Junior Leadership Program is an accredited summer recreation program that provides a unique experience for children and teens (7-16) with cancer and a sibling or friend.  Set in scenic Grand Lake at Camp Rotary, NB Camp Goodtime provides a safety-minded, medically supervised fun and entertaining week of activities at no cost, thanks to our sponsor, the New Brunswick Masons. This year’s camp will take place from July 4-10, 2015.
