Teen for Jeans

  • Candle, a student action group at Harold Peterson Middle School in Oromocto is going to be holding a "Teens for Jeans" collection from January 12th - February 6th. 
  • They are looking for donations of any gently used jeans that will then be dropped off for homeless youth. 
  • They would greatly appreciate any donations.  There will be drop off boxes in the lobby of the school.

Kidney Foundation Bake Sale / Book Sale

The Kidney Foundation of Canada – Fredericton office will be hosting an open house, bake sale and book sale January 29th, 9am-4pm.  All welcome! Tea and coffee will be served.  We are accepting donations of gently used books until January 28th.  Books can be dropped off at  56 Avonlea Court, Suite #204, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30pm

Winter Wellness Day

Frostival Event Winter Wellness Day at Mactaquac Provincial Park, January 31st from 12pm until 4pm.  The provincial park will play host to full-day events that promote active living through an array of fun, free events for all ages. Snowshoeing, Sliding, X-Country Skiing, Sledge Hockey, Skating, Family Yoga, Para-Nordic Skiing, HEALTHY, low-cost Food, Snow Art & More Free Activities.  Each activity-packed day will offer ample opportunities to get “in motion,” with free rental equipment provided by New Brunswick Parks, Para NB, Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Coalition and our partners. Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour

the UNB Rock and Ice climbing club is hosting the Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour on January 30th and 31st at the Playhouse.  The festival features films highlighting action sports, environmentalism and culture around the world.  The show starts at 7 pm each night and tickets are $15/night, available at the Playhouse Box Office.

Radon Proficiency Program

Radon is an invisible, odourless gas is the leading cause of lung cancer for nonsmokers.  High radon homes are located in all communities and areas of New Brunswick and we need certified professionals to provide radon reduction services.  The Canadian Home Builders’ Association and the New Brunswick Lung Association are pleased to offer the courses required to become certified Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program Radon Professionals. Courses are being held in Fredericton, Moncton and Miramichi in February, April and May.  For more information about the certification courses, please contact the Canadian Home Builders’ Association at (506) 459-7219. CRA Community Volunteer Program

Volunteers are needed to help file simple income tax returns for people in your community, on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. Every year, organizations throughout N.B. host free tax preparation clinics and arrange for volunteers to help individuals and families with a modest income and a simple tax situation prepare their tax returns.  As a volunteer with the CVITP, you will give back to your community, helping individuals and families receive their benefits and credits.  You will receive training, support and reference materials, including free tax software. Stories We Hold: Free Storytelling Workshop at the  Fredericton Intercultural Centre, Wellness Centre, 28 Saunders St..  Friday, February 9 from 5:30 to 7:45 PM.  We want to hear your stories, Fredericton! National storytelling initiative Passages Canada is coming to Fredericton to gather local stories of immigration, cultural identity, and heritage at this FREE workshop.  Help us capture the cultural diversity of Fredericton: bring an object or a photograph that tells a story of your immigration journey, your heritage, or your family’s ancestry. Hear musician and former refugee, Saa Andrew Gbongbor, share his story.  Complimentary refreshments provided. Digital Bootcamp

Happening March 30 and 31 at da Vinci College, Fredericton - Digital Bootcamp.  Bootcamp is a two-day event for high school students in grades 11 and 12 with an interest in exploring careers in art, technology, design and animal health.  The cost of he event is $100 including all workshop materials, lunch daily and a Monday night FUN event.  Permissions to be absent from class may be granted by high school guidance.  To register or inquiry, call 1.877.369.1888
